Save the Animals

Today we did a benefit photo session for the local Columbia Animal Shelter. Not as big of a turn-out as we would've liked, but one pup did find a home. That's a good thing.

This is something that is near and dear to my heart. I have to realize that not everyone is as passionate about animals as I am. Or photography or any other things for that matter. We all have different interests. On the other hand, it is a good thing that not just anyone wants a pet. If that were the case, our shelters would be even more overcrowded.

Please consider spaying/ neutering your pet. Know your breed before you breed them. Know the history of your pet. Breeders- be responsible. Know who you're adopting to. It's more than making money, it's causing others to make a lifetime commitment. I respect breeders that will take back their pets in order to keep it from being homeless. I admire responsible, educated breeders.

There's a lot of debate about spay/ neuter. Regardless of what's good or bad, the issue is this. There are entirely too many without homes. How? From mating. If they are spayed/ neutered, they can't mate. Pretty simple fix.

So you want a puppy. For those that have the dedication and time, that 's great! Congratulations on your decision.

Those that are unsure or if you've not been around dogs that much....
Puppies; bark, chew, poo on the floor, urinate on the floor, chew, whine, chew...AND...they don't stay that small. Is this a bad thing? Depends on who you are.
My point is consider an older dog. They've gotten through all this.
